Xbox360 Achievements.org has posted the achievements that will be available for Halo 3. There are 49 achievements worth a total of 1000 points. Check the full list here. 9 missions with a skull for each, achievements for beating the game on normal, heroic and legendary and many more.

I almost forgot, yesterday I red an article that said Microsoft paid Take 2 50 million dollars for exclusive episodic content for the Xbox 360 for Grand Theft Auto IV. 25 million for content that will come out by March of 2008 and another 25 million for content that will be released later that year. GTA has a huge following so they are trying to pull in more gamers to the Xbox 360 side with extra content for GTA IV. This is surely a good way to do it, exclusive content for your favorite game might persuade you to pony up the money for a new system. Either that or someone will find a way to port it to the PS3.

Todays Tech News

Lots of interesting tech news today, lets get to it.

Universal search: The best answer is still the best answer Google updated their search engine results, they are introducing content from Images, Maps, Books, Video, and News into the search results, and making one big pile of stuff, instead of keeping it separate like they used to.

Making The Switch From Twitter to Jaiku Tired of the downtime Twitter has had lately? In a post from Techcrunch, Duncan Riley talks about people making the switch and some of the tools already available and some they want. He’s not switching, btw, and neither am I, at least not until everyone else does. Mine has been quiet recently, but you can check it here, Jimmy Daniels Twitter microblog.

BitTorrent in Focus: TV-series are Hot TorrentFreak says TV is hot online, with 50% of people on BitTorrent downloading TV shows, while TV shows only make up 10% of the available “content”. Interesting, sounds like good news for Joost.

Latest AACS revision defeated a week before release Remember when Kevin Rose lost control of digg? I said they should just give up on the [tag]DRM[/tag] because someone will always be around to crack it for them, well they already have. A new volume key used by high-def films scheduled for release next week has already been cracked. The previous AACS volume key was invalidated by AACS LA after it was exposed and broadly disseminated earlier this month. The latest beta release of SlySoft’s AnyDVD HD program can apparently be used to rip HD DVD discs that use AACS version 3. Although these won’t hit store shelves until the May 22, pirates have already successfully tested SlySoft’s program with early release previews of the Matrix trilogy.

Microsoft apologizes for Halo 3 problems, extends beta The press invites sent out before the Halo 3 beta became widely available were the calm before the storm apparently, as there was a problem with gamers who had the Crackdown invites grabbing the file yesterday. Frank was caught up in the foolishness and it seemed like the entire Internet was going to come down. I know how hard it is to plan something this big, but seriously, this is Microsoft. They should have been better prepared. Now we’re at the point of apologizing, after a very unhappy player-base spent a frustrating day yesterday pulling out their hair waiting for the beta to become available.

Halo 3 News and Nuggets

Halo 3 is fast approaching, tomorrow, more than a million Xbox 360 owners will be able to play an advance version of the system’s biggest game of 2007, Halo 3. Last Friday, a very select few were allowed to play it in a Manhattan nightclub. The beta will consist of three levels the sun-beaten Snowbound, the waterfall and forest area Valhalla and a military-base setting called High Ground. The writer at mtv.com says there are three things everyone must do when playing Halo 3.

“Get a kill with the Spartan Laser. It is the most satisfying thing you’ll ever do.

“Make sure to grab the rocket launcher on high ground. For some reason no one ever gets it. And it’s absolutely lethal on that stage. No one’s figured that out.

“Make sure you ride in a Mongoose [ATV] with someone, so you can bond in your weaponless bullet-sponge of a vehicle.”

Is there anything you can really accomplish with that last one?

“Just chattin’,” O’Connor cheerfully replied. That might be the only moment of “Halo 3″ calm available in the next three weeks. Source: ‘Halo 3′ Sneak Peek: Three Things Every Beta Player Must Do

Here is a listing of some of the new weapons and devices that will be available.

The powerful Spartan laser can be used to stop vehicles. This directed energy weapon’s battery conservation scheme requires user to “paint” its target during a brief charge lag. A zoomed scope will assist in aiming. It’s slow, but one of the most powerful portable armaments in the UNSC arsenal.

A bubble shield creates a Sue Storm-like protective bubble around you preventing weapon fire. Its spherical shape is large enough to protect a small group, but users, or more importantly, enemy troops, can pass through it on foot or in vehicles.

A portable gravity lift propels you airborne to strategic heights and hard-to-get spots. The GravLift emits a column of directed anti-gravity force — a Covenant technology whose physics may be borrowed from Forerunner scavenging. This device is a simple but effective means of giving materiel or troops a quick vertical lift.

Man Cannons are stationary air lifts at certain locations which propel you to different locations. They can “shoot” men or vehicles.

Spike grenades can be thrown to stick onto opponents and the environment. New defensive tools include energy drainers and trip mines.

The Mongoose four-wheeled ATV holds two Spartans.

A new game play mode called “VIP” makes one player on a team the most important target — the team can’t be defeated unless he?s snuffed out.

Two new single-use items that can be used offensively or defensively include the Energy Drain and Tripmine. Energy Drain is a short-range magnetic induction effect causing disastrous failure of powered field systems within a set radius. It also has a damaging effect on biological systems and can wound or kill most bipeds. Basically, if you see it, get away quick.

The Tripmine reacts to pressure or movement. It has a slight magnetic impulse that will attack it to vehicles, turning them into deadly traps, or it can be placed on the ground to take care of careless interlopers. The mine has two states — inactive and active — learning to see and hear the difference can be a matter of life or death. Source: Fans can take a shot at ‘Halo 3′ online for brief time

Halo 3 Beta Date Announced

They have finally announced the release date for the much anticipated Halo 3 beta program. The beta will debut on Xbox Live on May 16th at 5AM, and if you haven’t gotten in on the beta yet, there is still a chance. Buy yourself, yes, I said buy, a specially marked copy of Crackdown or by the rule of three, meaning you played three hours of Halo 2 online, I believe.

We know you’re crazy for Halo 3 news, and here it is. The multiplayer Halo 3 beta will debut on Xbox Live, May 16th at 5AM. (Can I call in sick 5 weeks in advance?) How do you get on that beta? Either through the “Rule of Three” promotion or buying a copy of Crackdown for Xbox 360.

This is your chance to get to try new levels, weapons, vehicles, and try out some new game types. Maps shipping with the beta include Snowbound, Hugh Ground, and Valhalla – all new to Halo 3. Try your hand at the new Mongoose ATV, and gun-up with the new and improved Assault Rifle, Brute Spiker, Spike Grenades, and the killer Spartan Laser. Sounds really good, kotaku has some more info.

The Beta itself consists of three maps – Valhalla, High Ground and Snowbound – graphically improved since our first MP screenshots – and all three will be playable in Matchmaking only (that is after all, what we’re Beta testing here). All three maps are suitable for a wide variety of gameplay types, and you will have the chance to try all manner of game types, familiar and new.

There will also be new guns, vehicles and gameplay features to try – including the mysterious “X-Button” functionality.

There are a number of new features you’ll get to test out – including a new grenade type, a completely different class of weapon and some of the enhanced online functionality we plan to bring to the game – but it should be noted, a lot of secret features are hidden in this Beta.

You will see frame rate skips, unfinished animation and graphical features that will change come Fall. All the footage is clearly marked Alpha. You’re looking at the features here folks, not the final quality bar – which we’ve set pretty high. Your next taste of that will be in May. Source: Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta Dated

Here is a video I downloaded from Bungie.net showing you some of the features. They have a higher quality video on their site and an HD version on Xbox Live you can watch on your console.
