Longhorn beta now due in June

Feb 07 2005-Microsoft has announced that they will be releasing a beta of their next operating system, Longhorn, in June. This release will mainly be for developers, but there's nothing to keep us from taking it for a spin or twelve.

Feb 04 2005-Microsoft is planning on releasing 13 patches on Feb 8 2005. The news release is part of a new program to give Windows users advanced notice before releasing their patches.

MS Windows/Critical Error Trojan

Jan 27 2005-We've talked about this stuff before, but, anytime you recieve an update for software in email, you should NEVER open it, the only exceptions would be if a co-worker sent you the file and you verified that they actually did send it. This is one of the easiest ways virus writers get these trojans on your pc. They prey on the fact that almost everyone has this software and they want to keep it up to date. Just remember, never open email attachments, companies like Microsoft, ebay, Apple and others, never ever send out patches like this in email.

Microsoft hopes to end Piracy of Windows Software

Jan 26 2005-Microsoft has been fighting piracy harder every year. Now, Microsoft is planning on requiring customers to verify that they have a legal copy of Windows before they are allowed to download software updates from Microsoft windows update. They have been testing a tool since last fall that can check wether a particular copy of windows is legitimate.

Jan 24 2005-That's not a very attention grabbing headline, but good enough to get the point across. Microsoft Elixir, is a new project they are working on, in hopes of boosting upgrades of their Office suite.
